In order to solve problems with appropriate technology for special situations, creative thinking and new learning are brought to bare, even amongst the most experienced of engineers. This Project Based Curriculum for Soltion Development is intended to provide a crowdsourced solution development network while providing high quality educational oppotunities in STE(A)M education.
The first challenge is to creat a template that can be used to build the project packs for each of the areas that need addressing. Next, we create project packs from the templates that can be used by instructors at makerspaces and/or schools.
Each project pack contains all the information necessary to run a course, workshop, or seminar on a single appropriate technology challenge. For instance, there would be one project pack on Water Delivery & Purification and another on Power Generation (hydro). Rather than having one project covering Agricultural Gear, there would be multiple projects covering the different pieces of gear that are needed, and perhaps another project that was intended to envision other gear that might be necessary for the community.
These projects can be put together into a larger curriculum to form a full course, or taken one at a time as a single class or weekend workshop. The template for the projects should create something like Lego blocks which can be mixed and matched by educators long after the initial needs of the Engineers Without Borders project has been completed.
